“Save Our Water” Goes to the California State Fair!

It’s the peak of summer, and water conservation is more important now than at any other time during the year. That’s why the “Save Our Water” public education program was prominently featured at the 2009 California State Fair to help spread the word about easy ways to save water.

From Aug. 21 - Sept. 7 in Sacramento, “Save Our Water” was the theme of the California Department of Water Resources’ 4,000 square-foot exhibit at the fair. Located in the California Building B, the exhibit featured colorful panels describing California’s water supply, history and challenges, and offer interactive games and activities for children. Family-friendly presentations were made each day on conservation and the importance of protecting our most precious resource. Throughout the exhibit, the focus was on ways to save water both inside and outside the home.

In addition, Sept. 1 was “Save Our Water Day” at the fair. On that day, the first 1,000 families through the gates received free “Save Our Water” hats, posters, decals and shower timers. Other exciting features included performances by Radio Disney and a special “Passport to Water Savings” activity for children.
