In The Workplace
Water usage at the office can be an afterthought for many people. But there are many simple ways to save water at work, and that’s good for the bottom line.
Install aerators
By adding aerators to existing office faucets, you can cut faucet water consumption in half. Simple aerators are available in most hardware stores and are surprisingly inexpensive.
Low-flow showerheads
If your office has showers, replace standard showerheads with more efficient models and you will save water and energy usage – with no reduction in comfort.
Upgrade toilets and urinals
Toilets and urinals account for more than one-third of the water consumed in office buildings. More efficient toilets and urinals use a fraction of the water, and the savings add up with every flush.
Fix leaks
Leaky faucets and toilets waste thousands of gallons a year. If it’s hot water that’s leaking, you are wasting energy, too. Most leaks are relatively easy to fix, and the repairs will always save you money.
Get more efficient outdoors
If you have landscaping outdoors, be sure to adjust the sprinkler timer with the seasons and water early in the morning or late at night to minimize loss. Consider water-efficient, native plants in your landscaping.
