I removed my lawn and replaced it with a carpet of Dymondia. My house faces North, so I left the established shade loving Camelias and holly fern as foundation plants. The triangular beds bordering the walkway contain Elijah Blue festuca, jack spratt phormium, day lilies, iris, diamond frost euphorbia, and dragonsblood sedum. Flagstone forms paths through the yard and on the parkway. The yard is framed with a hedge of icee blue podocarpus with a crepe myrtle on the right and melaleuca on the left. Underplanting of butterfly bush, salvia, lavender and gaura attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

Our Tropical theme yard uses very little water. Each plant has its own drip line. Most of these plants are very Drought tolerant. The Grass uses Hunters top of the line MP Rotator sprinkler for 20% saving on water compared to older sprinklers. We used Marathon Grass for its Drought tolerant traits. All of the yard is on a Timer.
